US manufacturing economy stalling per today's news. "Manufacturing activity in the New York area deteriorated slightly in May, the New York Federal Reserve Bank said Thursday. The bank's Empire State Manufacturing index fell to negative 3.2 in May from 0.6 in April. This is the third month in the last four that the index has been negative. Readings below zero indicate contraction. The report was weaker than expected. Economists were expecting to be essentially flat in April. "Expect Basic Materials IYM to pull back. What picks have you been right on recently? You speak of the RedChip indices as if they are an elite and exclusive group of stocks. The Independent Index is marginal with some serious dogs such as LBIX and JADE. The Visibility Index which I beleive is paid for research is, well who cares about what your "analysts" say about that. Hi Brad,Thanks for the important comment. I totally understand how hard it is for other internet sites (specifically those dependent on organic Google traffic) to diversify away from the search behemoth.
As you point out, it's ANSW's model and its relative dependence on Google traffic that makes it so vulnerable. My point was that Answers' move to purchase Dictionary is a natural outgrowth of their lack of control over SEO traffic. Reply
