This article is weak in financial data. Replyfredrickson
Old Media and Glossy Fluff Both Lose Ground - Pew [view article]
In 1993 58% of the respondents said they read a newspaper in the last day. This study had newspaper readers reading the paper down to 27% in the last day with another 7% reading it online or in both forms. This 27% number is frightening to those at Gannett, New York Times, Tribune etc. There is no way to capture the revenue that is lost when the readers move to online. The preprint revenue is vaporizing, or moving to direct mail packages owned by the papers or their competitors.jay washingtoncheap.com

Google is going to take over, they are so well positioned now to take advantage of the big shift in advertising spending that is continually moving towards the internet. In franchise marketing we are continually finding that more of our ad spend goes towards the internet. Google will benefit from all of this Internet attention. I think it may also have to do with the fact that Dark Knight has done so well that 2009 will not look as good in comparison. Pushing out Potter gives them a chance to have a more favorable comparison. ReplyU.S and Global Search Share: Google's Ups and Downs [view article]

@sgmsgYour Malthusian argument ignores environmental issues, but if it worked this could make economic sense as well, so if you have those things going, why bother 'decreasing the surplus population?'
What I don't understand is how deep they would have to drill to make clean energy like this. Reply
