      Here's where I think you are missing the boat, Todd.

      If I am a $2B business, and I acquire a $3B business creating a larger $5B entity, I could say the company grew 150% last year. True? Yes. But what is organic growth? What would happen if I didn't acquire the company. In retail, that's called comp-store-growth. Part of the reason to acquire is for revenue growth and scale, decreasing costs and creating purchasing power. What Frank is saying, is they aren't seeing the cost savings or increased purchase power unless they integrate. Full scale integration could be cost prohibitive relative to the return.

      This is inevitably one of the problems with a number of technology companies (Cisco) who grew through acquisition. Eventually, you have to operate a business and extract value - I doubt if HD is going to get that by keeping HDSupply.

      Also, for the uninitiated, why does De Angelo paints such a rosy picture? He ran Home Depot Supply.
